Congregation Or Shalom Sisterhood is an affiliate of WRJ (Women of Reform Judaism).
Founded in 2005, we are proud of our many accomplishments in just a few short years! Many of our events are held annually, such as the Mah Jongg Tournament, Membership Dinner, Sisterhood Shabbat and Family Hanukkah Party. We have other programming such as dining out, going to movies and plays, a Fair Trade Market, book club meetings, and a variety of social action and fundraising activities. These include a cheering station at the cancer walk in downtown Chicago, clothing drives and toy collections. We’ve been pampered at Mario Tricoci and raised money in a variety of easy and fun ways! In fact, through our fundraising efforts, we’ve been able to contribute $10,000 towards the new building fund.
We strive to find programming that women of all ages can enjoy! We’ve learned how to relax our minds, to remove stress from our bodies and how to make every day a great day. And while we’re busy doing all these things, we’ve made wonderful friendships and lifetime bonds.
If you are interested in meeting the other women in the congregation, then sisterhood is for you! Sisterhood is an organization comprised of women who want to support what we do, whether by chairing an event or serving on a committee, baking, taking on a leadership role, attending events or simply by paying dues. Because we are a member of the international organization WRJ (Women of Reform Judaism), by joining sisterhood, you help support our congregation, our community and our world.
