HIGH SCHOOL PROGRAM
Grades 9 & 10
The High School classes are taught by Rabbi Looper and are designed to create memorable experiences in the lives of teenagers and help each student define who they are as a Jew. Through lively, engaging discussions, the students will explore and challenge their values, philosophy of life, and belief in God. High School classes meet on alternate Sunday mornings, and begin with bagels, doughnuts & juice, and informal schmoozing.
Students completing their 10th grade year will participate in the Confirmation Ceremony which is held in conjunction with our Shavuot service.
HEBREW CONVERSATION CLASS
GRADES 9-12
This class meets on Tuesday evenings, from 6:40-7:40pm and is designed for High School students of all ages. Students will learn basic Hebrew conversation skills and vocabulary that is intrinsic to a teenager’s life: shopping, traveling, eating in restaurants, going to parties etc. This class is the perfect preparation for the OSRUI Chalutzim Hebrew test.
MADRICHIM (HIGH SCHOOL TEACHING ASSISTANTS)
Or Shalom High School students, who are enrolled in our Religious school program, are eligible to become Madrichim (Teaching Assistants) in our primary grade Sunday School classes, the School office, and in our weekday Hebrew school program. Admission to this program is based on the student’s level of commitment, enthusiasm, and willingness to be part of a team. The students and teachers rely on the madrichim support and one-to-one help they provide in the classroom. The madrichim also serve as role models for our younger students.
