In 2013, a new author burst onto the literary scene with a fantastic debut novel.  Helene Wecker’s, THE GOLEM AND THE JINNI was a New York Times best seller for weeks.  Helene has a special connection with Congregation Or Shalom.   Her parents were founding members and she became Bat Mitzvah and confirmed at the temple.  Now, Helene is returning to Or Shalom to discuss her new book, THE HIDDEN PALACE: A TALE OF THE GOLEM AND THE JINNI, with us.  The book will be released June 8th and Helene will be speaking, virtually, to us, one week later, on June 15th, one of the first discussions she will be doing.  

THE HIDDEN PALACE, which is the sequel to THE GOLEM AND THE JINNI, is a blend of romance, Mary Shelly-esque horror and folklore, as it recounts the continuing adventures of Chava, the Jewish golem and Ahmad, the Arabian jinni. They confront unexpected new challenges in a rapidly changing human world in a story that spans the tumultuous years from the turn of the twentieth century to the beginning of World War I.
