This summer a diverse team of Or Shalom members began engaging in an open conversation to help each of us better understand racial inequity and to make suggestions as to how we and other congregants can better understand and address this injustice. The team is going through an intensive training program on racial healing, and many team members are participating in a facilitated discussion of the book White Fragility.

Our team wants to offer several possibilities for members to confront these challenges, but first we need to assess interest so that we may make appropriate choices. Please review each of the possible offerings listed below, and if you are interested in one or more of them please respond by checking YES. We are not asking for a commitment at this time; we are simply seeking to ascertain interest.

Seek to create a continuing relationship with a non-Jewish religious community, such as a predominantly Black or Spanish-speaking church or a mosque. Participation in small group discussions with equal numbers of participants from both communities, 4-8 meetings per year:
