Join Nikki Michele, Executive Director of the LGBTQ Center of Lake County for an informative 2-hour SafeZone training. This session is free to all Or Shalom members thanks to a sponsorship from Keshet.  The training will be offered in-person at Congregation Or Shalom (a ZOOM link is available for those who cannot attend in-person). Masks will be required and we will be socially distanced (no food or drink will be allowed). The maximum capacity for this training is 20 people.

The training will include the following topics and a Q&A session:

LGBTQ+ 101:

Help strengthen your organizations' competencies and knowledge about the LGBTQ+ community. This training is intended to be a judgment free, trauma-informed, and  supportive space. topics covered include: “The alphabet mafia” (i.e.: what on earth do all those letters mean?), Dos and Don’ts, issues and myths facing each portion of the community, terminology, key vocabulary, pronouns, and what to do if someone comes out to you.

LGBTQ+ Allyship, Q&A:

Take a deeper dive into LGBTQ+ concepts with exercises focused on privilege, and how to use that privilege to be an effective advocate for the LGBTQ+ community. This session will also provide a no-holds-barred opportunity for anonymous Q&A, allowing you to ask anything you’ve ever wanted to know about the LGBTQ+ experience in a “brave space.”
