55+ Social Group
Or Shalom's 55+ Social Group was created to better meet the needs of this enthusiastic demographic in our community at large. Members and nonmembers come together several times a year for a variety of programs and events. This group is self-run and programming reflects the groups interests.
Join us as we socialize, have a nosh, and get to know each other. Participate in programming that engages the heart and mind as we gather several times during the year to discuss all issues that make the "world go round," current events, music, book reviews, comedy, Israel and more hot topics!
55+ Social Club membership dues are now FREE! Non-temple members are welcome to join this group. Please email Bill at 55plus@orshalomlc.org or call the temple office at 847-362-1948 to sign up!
Past and current programs have included:
Current Events Discussions. Unless holidays conflict, current events meets the 4th Wednesday of each month, from 1–3 p.m. Come join us for our discussions and share your views.
Movie Trivia Night, Come see what you remember about movies from over the years.
S’lichot, discussion with Rabbi Ari and oneg at 7 p.m., Service at 10 p.m.
Favorite Travel Destinations and information about those getaway spots. Jennifer Leventhal will share pictures and details with us.
Veteran’s Shabbat, pre-oneg at 6:30 p.m., and Shabbat Service at 7:30 p.m.
We will continue our tradition of remembering and honoring our veterans on this Shabbat. Have a veteran that you want to honor? Let us know so we can invite him or her.
