3:00 PM - 5:00 PMThe Institute of Soil & Soul - Long Grove
Or Shalom is so excited to present this community-wide program in partnership with The Institute of Soil & Soul! Made possible by the Union for Reform Judaism's Grow a Good Citizen grant, families with elementary school-age children (Kindergarten through 6th grade) are invited to join us at the Soil & Soul farm for harvesting, learning, community, and mitzvot.
Soil & Soul is a Jewish regenerative farm that addresses local food insecurity and promotes our connection to the land through education, food production, and community engagement. All of the food harvested during this program will be donated to The Ark, our local Jewish food pantry and social service organization. We will also share in some High Holy Days and social justice-centered learning, as well as community building around the fire pit with s'mores!
The cost to attend this program is $10/family. There is a capacity limit of 100 attendees, so please register now to ensure everyone in your family can attend!
Directions & Parking
The Institute of Soil & Soul farm is located at 3372 Old McHenry Road in Long Grove.
- As you head west from downtown Long Grove on Old McHenry Road toward Route 22, you will pass the Twin Orchard Country Club on the right.
- About a quarter mile up on the right, you will see a blacktop driveway. DO NOT turn right on the blacktop driveway. Turn right into the one JUST PAST that driveway (with mailboxes on the left and an orange cone).
- Continue straight ahead onto the gravel road and follow it until you reach the parking area (about halfway up the road, near the farm storage buildings).
- There is additional parking at the end of the gravel road. We will post some signs to guide participants.
Please fill out the form below (1 submission/family) to register.
Or Shalom is committed to maximizing the accessibility of this program in every way possible. We also acknowledge that its unique outdoor setting may still present challenges for some participants. Please indicate any access needs in the registration form below. You may also reach out to Rabbi Sarah with any additional questions or concerns.
