Recycling Challenge 2024-25

John Katz-Mariani was a true pillar of the Or Shalom community. While he was a deeply committed leader of many social justice initiatives here, he had a special place in his heart for environmental justice.

The NexTrex Recycling Challenge presented a unique opportunity: to collect at least 1,000 lbs of recyclables in 12 months to win a bench for the Mitzvah Garden. Thanks to the leadership of our Green Team and collective effort of our congregation, Or Shalom has met this goal over 4 months early. The bench has been ordered and will feature a remembrance plaque in honor of John.

This challenge might be complete, but there's always more to do! Please stay tuned for updates and announcements regarding future recycling initiatives at Or Shalom.
