About the Presenter: Hon.  Kristal Lynn Larson

Kristal Lynn Larson is the Executive Director of the LGBTQ+ Center Lake County, an organization committed to making Lake County a place for LGBTQ+ identifying persons and their families to feel welcome and thrive. She blends her passion for social impact, lived queer experience, and sound business expertise to increase visibility and awareness of and within the community through advocacy, education, and peer support.

As the Clerk for Avon Township, Kristal serves as the first openly transgender elected member of the executive branch in Illinois and one of about 100 nationwide. In that role she has helped to craft and pass legislation and policy benefiting the LGBTQ+ community throughout Illinois. She is also a public speaker and educator; she has spoken at school boards across Lake County in support and defense of pro-LGBTQ+ policies, and she regularly speaks at other professional and civic organizations about LGBTQ+ identities and inclusion practices.
