High Holidays 2019/5780

To all of our Or Shalom Family & Friends, we wish you a wonderful, happy and healthy New Year! We are so excited to gather together once again! Below you can find some helpful information about all aspects of our High Holiday programming.

All unclaimed tickets have been moved to the Stake Center and will be available for pickup at will-call outside the Stake Center entrance beginning on Erev Rosh HaShanah, on Sunday, September 29, and all subsequent services.

Address of the Mormon Stake Center:

3075 N. Buffalo Grove Road

Buffalo Grove, IL 60089

New Prayer Books

If you've purchased the new prayer book set, Mishkan HaNefesh, and haven't had the chance to pick it up,  they will be available to pickup inside Stake Center entrance beginning on Erev Rosh HaShanah, on Sunday, September 29.

Which book to bring:

Mishkan HaNefesh comes in a two-volume set. The GOLD book, the smaller of the two books, is the only book required for Rosh HaShanah. The SILVER book, the larger of the two books, is the only prayer book required for Yom Kippur. Both prayer books are labeled on the spine and front cover (Hebrew-style) by their holiday.

Borrowing New Prayer Books:

For those who would like to borrow prayer books for worship, there will be a limited number available. You will be asked for your car keys in exchange for a book. You are encouraged to arrive early to the Stake Center to ensure a book(s) will be available for you to borrow.

Kindle Versions:

We have heard mixed reviews about the Kindle versions of Mishkan HaNefesh.  We encourage you to take the time to figure out in advance if the Kindle versions will work for you. The Kindle versions require two separate downloads; one book for Rosh HaShanah, and the other for Yom Kippur:

Please click here to purchase and download Kindle version of Rosh HaShanah Mishkan HaNefesh.

Please click here to purchase and download Kindle version of Yom Kippur Mishkan HaNefesh.

Please note, to those who plan on using the Kindle version, we will ask that you place your device on Airplane Mode during our services, to allow you and those around to remain focused on the service.
