Nutrition Assistance Resources
"The SNAP program - also known as food stamps - was implemented to ensure that people who fall into hard times, those who struggle to earn a living due to mental illness or physical or health challenges, and children who are born into poverty do not die of starvation and malnutrition. This is not a benefit or a privilege - this program is here to keep people alive. We cannot allow the politics of our time to violate this most central moral premise: to love our neighbors and care for them, and to preserve life."

• Make Your Voice Heard with Mazon – With support from our local Federation and Jewish Child and Family Services, the Jewish food distribution organization MAZON has put together a campaign to alert your congressional and senate representatives to the importance of this moment. This is a critically important way to advocate for those who are food insecure.
• Support the Mundelein Welcome Center – The Welcome Center, serving those in Mundelein’s School District 75, has requested the following supplies (please drop off at 1500 W. Hawley):
• Food: canned beans, cooking oil, oatmeal, cereal, juice, snacks, flour, pancake batter, jelly, pasta/pasta sauce, coffee, mayonnaise, ketchup, sugar, lentils, cookies
• Non-Food: Dish soap, bath soap, laundry detergent, diapers, wipes, toothbrushes/toothpaste, paper towels, cleaning supplies, gently used or new clothing and shoes, new socks and underwear (all sizes), grocery store gift cards
• Financial Donation: Consider contributing any amount directly to the Welcome Center via Omella and we will do the shopping for you! You can make your contribution HERE.
• Help "Pack the Pantry" with The Ark - The Ark, the Jewish community food pantry in Northbrook and Chicago (and the same organization we have supported for our High Holy Days food drive), has put out a call to stack their pantries in preparation for this potential wave of extra need. Options to help include making a financial donation, shipping items to The Ark, and/or dropping off items at either Ark location.
